Muttam

In the earlier days the villagers were fisher folks. Later the dwellers on the eastern region started looking for jobs in Mumbai. During earlier 20th century the not so well to do people started earning their living by working in restaurants. Later few luckier one owned one. Late Pakrunhi Haji was one of the famous person of this village. He had many firsts like the first Muslim Panchayath President, first to build a two storeyed commercial building, first to own a car etc. Late Haji P.K.Mohamed was the first person of this village to construct buildings in Mumbai & RCC house in Muttam, first to start a railway station in the region, most frequent traveler by flight in those time, to own car in Mumbai,to become the member of "Haj Committee", to be sent to perform Haj by the "Haj Committee" as "Haj-al Akbar", to celebrate the circumcession function of their children Fakhruddin & Abdulrehman in 1956, he had organised Qawali singers from Mumbai, full pledged brass band, horse-carraige procession & Biryani as part of the food. Again to celebrate his elder sons wedding in 1965, he had arranged generated electricity,professional fire works from Shivakasi, Coca Cola from Mumbai, chicken from poultry farm, curds from milk dairy, waiters from a star hotel of Kochi, pandal on the entire compound with double height in the front region, American govt. delegates as on of our invited guest etc. The Kunil children were the first to start a poultry farm & English Medium School in Muttam Village and also residential & commercial buildings in Mangalore etc. Adkam Moideen Haji was the first to start a bakery in Mumbai. The KH brothers were the pioneer to conduct restaurant chains in Kasargod & Mangalore.MP Abdulla(Mutta)was the first person to start a Nursing Home. Ismail Kiyoor was the first politician of our village. Sreedhar Shetty was the first person to sail in Greek ship & later own bar & restaurant and a finance company. Narayan Shetty was the first to own motor-boats. Peediye Mammicha was the first person to own the first tiled house & bullock-cart.
